Die Deutsche Wochenschau is the title of the unified newsreel series released in the cinemas of Nazi Germany from June 1940 until the end of World War II, with the final edition issued on 22 March 1945. The co-ordinated newsreel production was set up as a vital instrument for the mass distribution of Nazi propaganda at war.

The Reichsführer SS and Chief of the German Police, Heinrich Himmler arrives in The Hague, where he is greeted by Anton Adriaan Mussert, the head of the "NSB" (The National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands). The Führer leaves the headquarters of Field Marshal von Bock on whose front sector the great battle of annihilation for Kharkov was fought. The Führer on the flight to Finland where he paid a visit to Marshal of Finland, Baron von Mannerheim on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Hitler's flight captain Hans Baur. Hitler in conversation with Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel. The Führer greets General Dietl and informs him of his promotion to Colonel General. The Führer honored the Marshal von Mannerheim with a special award by presenting him the Grand Cross of the Order of the German Eagle in Gold.

Depiction of the course of the Soviet offensive in the Kharkov area on May 12, 1942. The major Soviet offensive began in the early morning hours of May 12. With numerous infantry units and hundreds of tanks, the Soviets attempted to break through the German positions south and east of Kharkov. Scene show the attacking Soviet troops. An Italian regiment deploys its reserves. Fighter planes attack strong Soviet units that are trying to regroup for new attacks. On May 16th, Timoshenko's major offensive was halted. The German command had completed its preparations for the counterattack. In the early hours of May 17th, the attacks by German and allied troops began. The decisive thrust of fast units led northwards from the area around Slovyansk while Romanian troops from the west and Hungarian troops from the north, attacked shoulder to shoulder with German divisions. By the May 22nd, the pocket west of the Donets was closed. German Panzer IVs and assault guns advance in the columns. The Romanian divisions played a decisive role in the encirclement battles. German and Romanian infantry are attacking. Ju 87s bombing targets. Representation of the course of the encirclement battle south of Kharkov. German tanks are pushing ever deeper wedges into the Soviet divisions. The Soviet soldiers emerge from their positions and foxholes and surrender. Destroyed British-made tanks. Croatian soldiers are inspecting damaged Soviet tanks. An artillery observer on the Donets River. The encircled Soviets, no longer able to advance operationally, and forced completely onto the defensive, are bombarded with a devastating hail of shells from German and Hungarian artillery.
